"Alaska's Bigfoot Island"[2]

The field investigators traveled to Prince of Wales Island in southeast Alaska after Mayor Tony Christianson of Hydaburg requested their assistance examining a series of recent incidents that concerned local residents. The island's 17 million acres of temperate rainforest and abundant black bear population suggested the area could support large omnivores, and the indigenous community had reported Sasquatch encounters for hundreds of years. The team examined photographs the mayor had collected, including images of what appeared to be a large debris structure stripped from a cedar tree and clear snow tracks showing distinct toe impressions in a human-like configuration but considerably larger than any human foot. Ranae and Bobo spoke with a witness who reported having a log thrown at her taxi and subsequently observing a Sasquatch in a tree. Another witness described a close encounter that left them frozen in fear, believing their life was in danger.

The investigators deployed perimeter monitoring technology in an attempt to detect and document any large animal movement in the area. During their field work, Ranae and Bobo discovered what they considered a possible footprint of unusual size. The team analyzed the photographic evidence, with Matt noting the debris pile showed signs of being torn rather than cleanly stripped in the manner typical of indigenous cedar bark harvesting. The toe definition in the snow track photographs particularly impressed the researchers, as the impressions displayed clarity and anatomical structure inconsistent with known wildlife while exceeding human proportions. The combination of long-standing indigenous accounts and recent physical evidence suggested to the team that Sasquatch activity remained a possibility on Prince of Wales Island.
