Time's Running Out

With only three days remaining in their Kentucky expedition, field investigators Mireya Mayor and Ronny Le Blanc returned to examine an eight-foot-tall tree structure discovered at the southeast edge of their target zone near Pine Mountain's base. The woven configuration of branches, stacked and interlaced in deliberate patterns, suggested purposeful construction rather than natural formation. The structure's apex height and visibility from multiple trail approaches indicated possible territorial marking behavior. Mayor noted the construction's similarity to a suspected nest found during the previous year's Oregon investigation, though this Kentucky structure stood significantly taller and appeared designed for visibility rather than shelter. The remote location and substantial elevation made human construction logistically improbable, requiring hours of hiking with equipment to reach branches at that height.

The team collected environmental DNA samples from surrounding soil to identify what species had been near the structure, hoping to rule out human involvement. Investigators deployed GPS trackers with Velcro attachments designed to snag on fur, enabling real-time tracking if a creature passed through the area. They also introduced scent lures combining female human and primate pheromones, theorizing these might attract a male Bigfoot or provoke a territorial response from a female. A bloodhound tracker subsequently led the team higher up Pine Mountain to a cave entrance, extending their search into new terrain as the expedition's deadline approached.
