Bigfoot's Lair?

In the final days of their Kentucky expedition, the team followed a promising lead when bloodhound Xena tracked a scent from a tree structure to a location 800 feet downhill. Survivalist Russell Acord investigated upslope and discovered a cave opening with disturbed vegetation suggesting repeated use. The entrance emitted what Acord described as an unnatural odor, and Xena—reportedly unafraid of typical wildlife—refused to approach the opening. The team considered the possibility that the cave system could serve as a subterranean habitat, offering a secluded travel route through the terrain with multiple entry points across the hillside.

Acord conducted a cautious initial cave assessment, descending through narrow passages to document the interior chambers. Inside the first level, the team observed bone fragments including what appeared to be a deer or elk jawbone, suggesting something had used the space for feeding. Thermal imaging and visual documentation revealed additional chambers approximately twelve feet below the first level, with cool air flow indicating the cave system extended considerably further. Acord halted the exploration when the passages became too confined for safe solo investigation, noting that a more thorough examination would require proper equipment and team support. The investigators concluded the cave warranted further study, with Acord suggesting the limestone geology could conceal an extensive underground network similar to Kentucky's Mammoth Cave system.
