While conducting nocturnal surveillance, field investigators Mireya and Ronny report hearing sounds suggesting a large animal moving through the area, followed by what Mireya described as an unusually loud, heavy impact. The investigation takes an unexpected turn when Russell discovers that one of his wildlife trackers—devices designed to attach to passing animals with hair—has been activated and has traveled a significant distance. Most remarkably, the tracker's signal suggests movement toward the coastline at the narrowest point between the island and the Alaskan mainland before the signal was lost, raising the possibility that something carrying the tracker entered the water.

The team deployed military-grade night vision technology for their nocturnal observations and utilized GPS-enabled wildlife trackers distributed across a multi-mile radius to monitor animal movement patterns. Despite clear visibility conditions with the night vision equipment, the investigators were unable to visually identify the source of the sounds they encountered.
